Ostium
A downloadable game for Windows
You are witnessing the last transmission of the Expedition Division of Her Majesty's Fleet. The team was tasked with finding an ancient artefact on the ocean planet of Ostium, a remnant left behind in the War of Fallen Angels.
If found, this artefact would have spurred forward our weapons research, and brought our glorious Empire to new heights. The team was highly trained, loyal to the core, and willing to put their lives on the line for the mission. Not one person among them would think twice about sacrificing their lives for the cause.
Deployed to the subsurface, the crew knew what their mission was, and proceeded with the utmost caution.
There were no survivors.

The game looks really nice, and I love the environment. The giant squids attacking you, the eerie nature of the artifact and the whole atmosphere were excellent.
But for the life of me, I have no idea what the heck you're supposed to do to beat it. I tried shooting the monster with flares, I tried to search the area around the artifact, I tried to return to the start and report in, nothing seemed to work.
As fun as it was, I do also think the controls should probably be revamped. This felt more like a sort of fighter plane than an underwater submarine.
Still, I had fun! Creepy atmosphere, good cutscene, a nice bit of world building. I'd be happy to see more of this game world, learn more about the War of Fallen Angels and the aftermath. Keep up the good work!

Gorgeous game, and I already have a fear/fascination with the deep sea as well as a drowning phobia, so this was perfectly creepy. I reach the artefact but couldn't figure out (or remember) what to do, so I just fired flares hoping to kill that creature, though I failed. Great game, thanks!
